I think there's wisdom to it, if we replace the "hands" with "thinking". We're often our biggest enemy, and how we perceive and react to things is what breaks us.
we are but usually there are some triggers for our thinking, I don't think the damage comes out of nowhere
However convenient externalizing the cause may be, I don't want to have harmful assumptions either. How would that make me any different, after all.
I'm at piece with myself, and that we don't always need the same, or can provide exactly what's needed at the right time. It would be foolish to assume otherwise.
you are right, and it's not convenient at all lol, it's just other ppl can trigger our responses/feelings. yes it does come from the inside, but the outside also counts??
what is missing from the discussion here I think is that the poem is about toxic relationship(of any kind)
and if something is toxic it's harmful, no matter how much of a 'peace with oneself' you put there
